Biochemistry of Masteron/Drostanolone
Masteron is a modified form of dihydrotestosterone with a methyl group on the second carbon atom (carbon alpha). This modification is responsible for the anabolic power increase. This methyl group makes it difficult for the enzyme 3-Hydroxysteroid dehydrogenase to metabolize Masteron. This enzyme is abundant in muscle tissue and is responsible for the elimination of DHT in two inactive metabolites: 3-alpha Androstanediol and 3-beta Androstanediol. Because of this enzyme, DHT in muscle tissue is not at all anabolic.
